The Winners of the 2010 Oly Awards

Oly Award for Best Brand

From a field of 800+ nominated ads, Coca-Cola was awarded The Oly Award for Best Brand of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics for its advertising campaign and sponsoring of the Olympic Torch Relay. The submissions were crowdsourced from attendees and fans of the Olympics who photographed examples of Olympic-related advertising and submitted the best examples to AdHack’s panel of judges.

Let’s recap.

About The Oly Awards

The Oly Awards celebrate the best of brand advertising during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

  • Mark Busse is Partner / Design Director at Industrial Brand and past president of the BC chapter of the Graphic Designers Association of Canada (GDC).
  • Stephen Bailey is marketing and sales director at Vancouver-based, world-famous John Fluevog shoes.

Photographer Kim Werker was given a second Oly Award for Best Ad Photographer for her photo of the Hudson’s Bay Company.

“I did a little dance! Actually, no. But I’m very flattered and excited. Thank you! I took the photo of The Bay before the Olympics started, when I was feeling pretty cynical about the whole shebang. Good thing I got over that once the torch came through, and managed to have the time of my life along with most of the rest of the city!”

James,

Well done, my friend. Can I buy you a (right) mitten?

C.

Yes, I concur, Coke was impressive. I meant to add a photo of the Coke pavilion, but didn't make the deadline (just added some to the group now). Unlike the other main sponsors, Coke's pavilion actually resonated with their product since the pavilion itself actually resembled a can of Coke. But the best part for me was seeing the full motion video play at night, notably when they inserted current event video in mini video windows/bubbles, but especially when they played their awe inspiring hockey ad timed precisely to correspond with a live hockey victory for Canada. Great soundtrack on that ad as well. Good job everyone!

I really liked your photo of

I felt is have a cute suttle tone of humour to you. And Acer. . . ya they did suck, much like their laptops.

But I did like Petro-Canada's cups (Just like the ones I got in the 80's) and I think they may have had a better draw outside the downtown core.
