Olympic Brand Highlights: VISA
Proud worldwide Olympic sponsor (see Canadian Team Visa athletes here), and the only card accepted at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
This means that Visa is the only card accepted at The Bay’s Olympic Superstore, to buy Olympic event tickets, etc. This has been a sore spot for some. Their slogan says “More people go with Visa,” but not everyone does.
They do offer perks for those who use their partners and pay with Visa, though. For example, those traveling between the United Stated and Canada flying with Air Canada and who pay with Visa save 15%. Other partners with deals and discounts through Visa include Birks, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Hertz rental cars, the Globe & Mail, the Olympic Store, and the Royal Canadian Mint. If you’re looking for deals, go to the visaperks page.
One thing about the 2010 Visa ads is that they are very distinguishable. You don’t need to see the logo to know that the blue and white TV commercial, or blue and white billboard down the street is a Visa ad.
You’ll also notice that many of the stores in Vancouver are sporting signs in the window that say they are proud to accept Visa. This is part of a co-op advertising program Visa offers to businesses that accept Visa.
