Geoff Vreeken Launches Homeless Copywriter

ATM deposits only from Homeless Copywriter Geoff Vreeken.

AdHack member Geoff Vreeken has launched his new project — Homeless Copywriter. Here’s the story, straight from Geoff:

I got laid off, and needed a website to show my old work. Instead, I created new work: this pro bono campaign for Covenant House, an international street youth rehabilitation group.

On the whole, creative professionals, 25–40, do not donate to charities like Covenant House.

Homeless kids don’t have ad agencies. This campaign is my attempt to bring awareness to the fact that we all need to help out. It’s a cliché, but every little bit counts.

The idea is this: If a homeless child were my client, what would I create to make them money on the street using only cardboard and a marker?

Geoff is hosting a big bash in our hometown of Vancouver next week to launch Homeless Copywriter. Come out and support the project by drinking beer.

I know, what kind of sell is that?

Homeless Copywriter Launch Party

Thursday, November 19 from 6 pm to 10 pm at the Fortune Sound Club — 147 E. Pender Street.

Entry donation to Covenant House.

What an awesome idea! The rough nature of the artwork grabs attention and is congruent with homeless people with hand drawn placards.
