Anatomy of a Lego Person: Best Animated GIF Ever

Lego person anatomy split animated .gif from Jason Freeny

Just to prove that there’s always time for Lego, and inspiration from Lego, this is the Lego person anatomy spinning GIF for Lego week here on the Lego channel.

(Previously: 8-Bit Trip: Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Tribute in Lego.)

What I really love about this Lego animated GIF is that for years the general feeling has been that animated GIFs are a dead media type. They were overused in the days of banner ads like ‘Punch the Monkey‘ and now get frowned on.

They’re out of style. They’re not useful. They’re not dynamic. Users don’t respond to them.

But I love to see creativity trump the received wisdom. The animated GIF is as limited a media type as the creator of the work lets it be.

Found via Rob Walker on The Brothers Brick and originally designed by Jason Freeny. Phew.
