We likes The Ad Generator

Intro image from the Ad Generator

Wanna see an in-action example of you creating the meaning for an advertisement? (Kinda like I was going on about in How advertising can come to life.) Check out the the ad generator.

The ad generator is a generative artwork that explores how advertising uses and manipulates language. … By remixing corporate slogans, I intend to show how the language of advertising is both deeply meaningful, in that it represents real cultural values and desires, and yet utterly meaningless in that these ideas have no relationship to the products being sold.

Flickr photos + copy built from the tags + expectation of meaning = heightened meaning. Hey, if you’re creating the meaning, create the whole ad. Hack advertising: AdHack. Hat tip: TechCrunch.
